Funding
Each year, the Juvenile
Welfare Board approves a budget that provides
funding to non-profit or government agencies for programs and services
to Pinellas Countys children and families. There are four major categories,
which include: continuation funding for on-going programs; new programs
consistent with JWBs Strategic Plan; equipment and renovation grants;
and community development grants.
Community Development Funding:
Small grants ($5,000 or less) are
available for programs that support
positive family development, and
provide safe, constructive community
environments through collective
community involvement.
New and Expanded Funding:
Innovative programs not
currently funded by JWB, or currently funded programs
which seek to expand to new geographical areas, increase the number of
participants,
and or enhance services. In either case, new and expanded programs must be
consistent with JWB’s Strategic Plan. Funding awarded one time per year.
Equipment and Renovation Funding:
In collaboration with Pinellas County
Community Foundation, funds are awarded for new equipment or needed repairs
in order for agencies to operate more efficiently. Funding awarded one time
per year.

How
Programs Are Monitored
Each program is assigned to a JWB contract manager who works with
the programs staff on an ongoing basis, not only to monitor that programs
success and fiscal accountability, but also to act as a resource to the staff
in assuring that program objectives are met.
JWB utilizes
a web-based reporting system, allowing for program
participant data collection, including the type of services received
as well as demographic information. This
system collects specific
information that measures the benefits participants receive from
program activities and services. These
outcome measures
contribute to determining program success.
Additionally,
JWB has initiated an agency certification program
that assures that programs are operating in accordance with
current professional standards and are demonstrating a strong
commitment to quality services and administrative practices.
