Strategic Planning
In November 2006, JWB’s Board, Staff, Community Councils, and Funded Agencies embarked on an intensive process to identify our priority areas. The culmination of the day-long event, at the St. Petersburg College Collaborate Labs, rendered the most productive investments were determined. As a result, the following were selected as the Strategic Areas of Focus:
In December 2010 Staff requested the Adoption of the Florida Cabinet for Children and Youth Indicators for Pinellas Children.
In early 2008, the Florida Cabinet for Children and Youth set a goal in their strategic plan to
promote increased efficiency and improve service delivery by all governmental agencies which
provide services for children and their families in Florida. In 2009 the Policy Group for Florida’s
Families and Children was tasked with developing key indicators of child well-being in the four
goal areas of the Cabinet’s strategic vision. The following indicators were adopted in June 2009:
1. Every Florida Child is Healthy
2. Every Florida Child is Ready to Learn and Succeed
3. Every Florida Child Lives in a Stable and Nurturing Family
4. Every Florida Child lives in a Safe and Supportive Community
Adoption of desired outcomes for child well-being, and the indicators to determine progress
toward these outcomes will focus local funders, providers and partners on a common purpose,
using the same language, allowing communities across the state to track the same outcomes. This
action facilitates comparison, and perhaps most critically, to influence Florida’s national standings on critical indicators of child well-being.
