The Truancy Outreach Program’s mission is to decrease the amount of truancy among middle school students in five targeted middle schools in Pinellas County.  The program will accomplish this by providing a Truancy Magistrate court hearing within the school for the student and their parents. A case plan will be ordered by the Magistrate and supported and monitored by case managers sub-contracted through Family Resources. The program will work with the student and family on the obstacles that are faced in the student's attendance at school and make referrals to community resources when necessary. The goal is to have the student increase their school attendance and not have any unexcused absences.
